Our church is blessed with a group of teenagers who have grown up learning about the Methodist Christian Creed and doctrines and more about Jesus and the Bible from Sunday School onwards. Because of this reason, when they attain their adolescent teenage, they become a perfect fit for the Youth Fellowship of the Church.
The MYF is present because it guides members who feel a need to know their God. We firmly believe that God uses us at all ages and although not all accept his saving grace early on in life. The MYF hopes to be the bridge enabling a young person to come closer or at least get a glimpse of our God and Savior Jesus Christ.
The MYF aptly caters to the curious minds and activity-based needs of teenagers. After the main church service on Sunday, the MYF meets for a time of fellowship at 10.30 AM. During their session, the members spend their time worshipping Jesus through singing, followed by a Youth-centered Bible Study.
The MYF sessions are always oriented and centered towards living a Christ-centered life and also encourage the members to participate in activities that help them prepare for the future.
The Bible is filled with young men and women who despite their age were used by the Lord for his purposes. Most important is that they were chosen not because of their age but for their hearts and character. The MYF wishes to make it possible for all the adolescents to know Him from an early age and spend time getting to know Our Lord.
We believe in following the advice by Apostle Paul when he said :
1 Timothy 4:12 – Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. (NIV)
While also keeping in mind his warning in
2 Timothy 2:22 – Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. (NIV)
Another primary guide-mark for the MYF is the most widely used commandment for Children and Youths alike
Exodus 20:12 – “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.” And Ecclesiastes 12:1 – “Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, ‘I find no pleasure in them’.”
The MYF assists in the Church Activities, especially during Festivals and events.
